Beer and Dog Lovers Find Nirvana in Newport

NEWPORT, OR, (Rogue Wire Service) - Rogue Ales Brewery will host the 2nd Annual Brewer’s Memorial Ale Fest on May 16-17th in Newport, OR in honor of Brewer, our revered Chairman and resident black lab who passed away in May 2006. The largest dog-friendly beer festival in the world, this year’s event will include 50+ microbreweries, live music, local seafood, and dog-inspired entertainment. Proceeds from the event will benefit local animal charities like Oregon Coast Therapy Animals and the Central Coast Humane Society.

Held inside the Rogue brewery where Brewer grew up, dogs can participate in Doggie Musical Chairs, Dog Dancing, and Celebrity Dog Look-alike contests. Canines can also browse dog food, dog accessories, and specialty doggie beer. Outside, volunteers will host a dog washing station within a fenced dog run area overlooking the scenic Yaquina Bay.

Over 50 world class microbrews from across the country will be poured including Allagash, Amnesia, Bear Republic, Calapooia, Caldera, Diamond Knot, Dogfish Head, Eugene City Brewery, Fish, Georgetown, Issaquah Brewhouse, Lagunitas, Laurelwood, McMenamin’s, Lighthouse, Pelican, Rogue Ales, Sierra Nevada, Siletz, Skagit River, Standing, Stone, Steelhead, Max’s Fanno Creek, Wakonda, Ninkasi, and more.



Non-canines will enjoy tours of the Rogue Brewery’s new brew system and the unveiling of John Maier’s 2008 batch of Brewer Ale. The House of Spirits, Rogue’s craft distillery located next door to the brewery, will also offer tours and tastings of its award-winning spirits like Spruce Gin and Hazelnut Spice Rum.

The festival will also showcase crafts from local artisans, cuisine from area restaurants like Mo’s and Local Ocean, and live music. This year’s line-up features hometown favorites Ty Curtis Band, Whiskey Robbers, HooDoo Johnson, and Whiskey Puppy.

A charity raffle will include a Rogue-inspired Beach Cruiser and a custom Brewdawg surfboard shaped by legendary shaper Steve Swan.



Entry to this 21+ event is $10 which includes a souvenir mug and five free taster tokens. Dogs get in free when accompanied by a human. Opening of PDX Pub Sets Craft Beer Record

PORTLAND, OR, January 14, 2008 (Rogue Wire Service) – Rogue opened its 10th meeting hall at the Portland International Airport. With the addition of the Rogue meeting hall, the Portland Airport now offers more craft beer than any airport in the world. Other craft beer purveyors at PDX include Laurelwood Public House (2 locations), Stanford’s, Pizzicato, Gustav’s, and Rose City Café.

The meeting hall is located in the international D concourse, home to Continental, KLM, Delta, Hawaiian, Lufthansa, Mexicana and Northwest Airlines.

Eight Rogue ales, stouts, porters, and lagers will be featured on tap, including Kells Irish Lager, Shakespeare Stout, Dead Guy Ale, Hazelnut Brown Nectar, Mocha Porter, Brutal Bitter, American Amber, Juniper Pale Ale, Chocolate Stout and the John’s Locker Stock series, a special brew conjured up every so often by Rogue Brewmaster John Maier.

A selection of Rogue bottles To-Go is available, including Morimoto Soba Ale in 22oz serigraphed bottles, and Morimoto Imperial Pilsner in 750ml ceramic bottles. The pub fare will include Kobe Cheeseburgers served with Rogue Creamery Bleu Cheese, Harry’s Beer Cheese Soup made with Dead Guy Ale, and Zenners Haute Dogs made with American Amber Ale.

To celebrate the opening, Rogue created a commemorative 22oz beer bottle, Port-o-PDX Ale and presented it to Scott Kilgo, Concessions Development Manager.
Rogue’s World Class Spirits will also be featured, including White Rum, Dark Rum, Hazelnut Spice Rum and Spruce Gin.

A Rogue Nation Immigration station has been established and is accepting both U.S. and International Citizens.
